Nosey Parker
Put the children into two teams and get them to stand behind each other. Each team is given a matchbox sleeve. The only way the matchbox sleeve can be passed is by the nose. The children are not allowed to touch the matchboxes except with their noses. If anyone is caught cheating that team has to start again. The first team to pass the matchbox all the way down the line and back again are the winners.
Thread the Team
Put the children into two teams. A long piece of string with a weighty object such as a key on it, is given to each team. They have to thread the string through everybody's shirts and the first team to string everybody together is the winner.
Apple Bobbing
Spread a large plastic sheet over the floor. You then need a large fruit bowl full of water and an apron. Float some apples in the water - leave the stalks on as this makes it easier. One-by-one, the children, with their hands behind their backs, must kneel down and take an apple out of the water.
Appples Under the Chin
Divide the children into two teams. The team members stand behind each other in lines. Each team is given an apple. The apple must be passed down the line, under the chins (again, without hands). When the apple gets to the bottom of the line, the last person takes the apple and joins the front of the line. This is repeated until the person who started at the head of the queue return.
A Treasure Hunt in your Sandpit
Make a flag for every child with paper and straw. Let the children design their own flags. Bury the treasure in the sand and rake over to hide any sign of where the treasure is. Alternatively you could make little hills in the sand. Let each child plant their own flag in the sandpit and the flag that is nearest the treasure gets the prize.
Design a Party Hat
Cut out a crown shape and let the children colour in the crown. They can be kept for when the children have their lunch or tea.
Pin in the Donkey
You do not have to stick to the traditional game.
1. Pin the tail onto a dinosaur, if it is a dinosaur party.
2. Spot the ball on a football pitch, if it is a football party.
3. Pin the wheels onto Thomas the Tank Engine.
